How to Create a Habit Tracker in Tana (For Beginners)

There are a few ways to track your habits in Tana. This tutorial outlines one of those ways, which utilizes command buttons on the daily node. Before we dive in, here are some caveats.

Who is this tutorial for?

  • Persons who want to track their habits in Tana who are either on the 14 day free trial or on the Pro plan (because creating command nodes is currently only available on Tana’s Pro plan).
  • Tana builders or persons interested in exploring how to learn Tana in more depth to build their own custom workflows.

Is this the easiest way to track habits?

  • Certainly not, there are apps in your phone’s app store that allow you to track habits with no set-up required.

Is this the easiest way to track habits in Tana?

  • I think simpler set ups exist — probably utilizing checkbox properties but I haven’t tried them all.

How long will this take me to set up?

  • It took me about 20 minutes to set everything up from scratch in the video tutorial at the end of this article.
